Based on the best-selling YA novel of the same name by Benjamin Alire Sáenz the film centers on the friendship between two teenage Mexican-American loners in 1987 El Paso who explore a new, unusual friendship and the magical road to self-discovery.

Cyrano @Claremont

Nobleman, military man, and poet Cyrano de Bergerac dazzles whether with ferocious wordplay at a verbal joust or with brilliant swordplay in a duel. Convinced that his appearance renders him unworthy of the love of Roxanne, Cyrano agrees to ghostwrite love letters to her from another man.  The film stars Peter Dinklage who garnered praise and award nominations for his portrayal of the title role.

Color Purple @Claremont

Musical adaptation of Alice Walker's novel about the trials of an African American woman living in the south during the early 1900s. Celie faces many hardships in her life, but ultimately finds remarkable strength and hope in the unbreakable bonds of sisterhood.

The film stars Taraji P. Henson, Danielle Brooks, Colman Domingo, Corey Hawkins, H.E.R., Halle Bailey, Phylicia Pearl Mpasi and Fantasia Barrino in her film debut. Producer Oprah Winfrey said of the film : “To reinvent the movie at this time is to reinvent a phenomenon”.  Blitz Bazawule directs.
